Cross
cutting efforts for capacity building at various levels of society and
within the organization have their roots in the strategic choices of Taraqee
Foundation. It was in July 2004 that a separate unit was established to
compliment such efforts which in its essence was conceived and existed
even before its establishment. The idea was build around the immense need
of such an arrangement at Balochistan where majority of public or private
institutions have to bear huge logistics costs to arrange capacity building
events due to unavailibity of professional trainers in the province.
The Human & Institutional Development (HID)
section currently comprises of four professionals including one section
manager and three program officers. During a short period of six months
(1st July to 31st Dec 2004), the section staff worked tirelessly for various
capacity building events at institutional and individual level. A comprehensive
capacity building plan was developed worth around 10 million PAK rupees
to be implemented in various districts of Balochistan and some areas of
Sindh. Similarly a TNA (Training Needs Assessment) report was compiled
on the basis of which appropriate trainings were channeled to staff throughout
the organization. Some other initiatives have also been taken in line
with the institutional development priority of the section. The section
operates with following major objectives:
1. Capacity building of
staff/communities
2. Review/enhancement of
organizational policies/systems
3. Institutional strengthening
of partner CBOs/community units e.g. ADG, WDG, Credit Centers etc,
4. Strategic planning of
Taraqee Foundation
5. Networking at grass roots,
civil society and government/policy making level,
6. Resource mobilization
for new/core programs/projects
7. Establishment of a Trainers
pool for staff and community trainings,
